Jennifer Tilly was conceived in Los Angeles on 16 September 1958, in extremely poor conditions. Her mother worked as a schoolteacher and an unsuccessful actor, while her father sold automobiles. Jennifer was the youngest child of her parents and frequently took her mother who worked as a teacher at school, to theater performances. She thought she was amazing. Jennifer's parents divorced at the age of 5 years older. Jennifer was a part of her life within British Columbia when her mother moved there with the four children. Her interest began to wane at the theatre during her time in high school. Her mother urged her to play different roles in plays.
